Make VoIP video calls with your iPhone 3G

By

VoIP phone systems are taking over business and individuals telephony needs. Day by day, VoIP is progressing by leaps and bounds. Many new VoIP Features are being introduced every day.

Not just that, VoIP phone services has been extended to mobile phones as well. Among popular VoIP features, voice call and video call conferencing is one of the most widely used services, owing to the many benefits it gives to both individuals and business people.

Quite recently, after VoIP services were introduced by Apple in iPhone3G and the blocking of voice-over-IP or VoIP calls has been lifted, it has changed the SDK to reflect the allowance. Now, iPhone users can freely use VoIP and enjoy various VoIP features. VoIP phone services have added convenience to calling needs with its cost effective calling solution and ease.

This is definitely good news for iPhoners since now they can avail the different voip features, make and receive cheap VoIP calls anywhere in the world, have video calls with family and friends and even business associates, regardless of you being overseas or home – VoIP keeps you connected.

Following the release of VoIP for iPhones, iCall app was the first one to announce about their 3G compatibility with VoIP users. After that, another voice and text chat app that easily supports IM’s including gtalk, msn, yahoo, Skype, SIP, and video calls announced that they too show compatibility with iPhones.

Fring app dials out from a dial pad with the help of mobile dial pad, SIP, or Skype, and can also make VoIP video calls using a service that is compatible. Fring video calls were tested and it gave excellent results and so did Skype video calls, using both 3G and Wi-Fi.

With your iPhone VoIP Video calls, you can easily call up anyone living miles apart. Although, during the test it was noticed that the person who dialed could not see you, while you could easily view them through their phones. The same was witnessed for voice nevertheless AT&T reception gave full signals. The voice faced breakages and stalls. However, when calls were made from wi-fi’s the voice transaction seemed clearer and smoother.

Therefore, it was concluded that basically, there still seemed to remain a stability issue over both Wi-Fi and 3G. Both Fring and Skype could not give a 100% service in terms of both voice and video, as it does when used on a home computer. Probably, the reason is that at home, you have a reliable and speedy Internet.

However, still new, yet the fact of the matter is that you can now have Video calls on your iPhones. It might still not be as mature as it should, though with the technology progressing with the pace of light. The time isn’t far when you can easily make clearer and smoother Video VoIP calls using your Fring or Skype app with your iPhone 3G; infact, soon other VoIP players will also bring in their VoIP apps for voice and video for iPhoners.

That is a good news but i think voip service depends a lot on internet speed. I don't think iphone have that much good internet speed. This is why my voip phone experience has not beend good with voip on iphone.

You are right but there are some vendors who provide very good internet speed on iphone. You can go for them and enjoy voip phone on your iphone.
